The History of Lyndhurst Gynecologic Associates

The history of Lyndhurst Gynecologic Associates begins in 1970 when Dr. Eugene Linton and Dr. Donald Whitener incorporated their practice of obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Perry Clark in 1972 was the first associate to join the practice, followed by Dr. Lawrence Walker in 1973. Quickly outgrowing its space, the practice moved in 1974 to its current location at 2927 Lyndhurst Avenue and changed its name to Lyndhurst Gynecologic Associates. In 1975, Dr. Stephen Anderson joined Lyndhurst and a satellite office was opened in Mt. Airy, NC.

Dr. Linton left Lyndhurst in 1977 to become Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine in Knoxville. He would return to Lyndhurst in 1985. In 1978, Dr. Harold Pollard joined the practice. In 1982, Kay Shores, PA-C, became the first physician assistant at Lyndhurst working primarily at the Mt. Airy office.

Lyndhurst opened its second satellite office in Kernersville, NC in 1986. That same year, Dr. R. Lamar Parker joined the practice and Ms. Annette Steed became the first sonographer at Lyndhurst. In November of 1986, the Lyndhurst family was saddened by the sudden, tragic death of Dr. Perry Clark.

Dr. Donald Whitener retired from Lyndhurst in 1988. Dr. Michael Lindel joined the practice in 1992. In 1995, Dr. Linton retired and Dr. Scott Washburn joined the practice. Deborah Zimmermann, PA-C became the second physician assistant at Lyndhurst also in 1995. In 1998, Dr. Jacqueline Mims joined Lyndhurst Gynecologic Associates. The following year, Dr. Melvin Seid joined the practice.

In 1999, Lyndhurst Gynecologic Associates became a founding member of the Women's Health Alliance of the Piedmont, P.A. This alliance embodies Lyndhurst's ongoing commitment to provide excellent quality patient care and service. The alliance utilizes its collective size by offering innovative technologies to our patients that may not be feasible for an individual practice.

At the time of Dr. Stephen Anderson's retirement from Lyndhurst in 2001, Dr. Bradley Jacobs joined the practice. The following year, Dr. Stacee Reynolds became the newest associate. Also in 2002, Lyndhurst launched www.lyndhurstgyn.com establishing its presence on the world wide web.

Since opening our doors over 30 years ago, Lyndhurst Gynecologic Associates has provided our patients with the best possible individualized care.
